§ 34-30. Deposit; containers; placement for collection.

  • (a)

    It shall be unlawful for any person to deposit or place any solid waste in any street, alley, or other public place or upon private property within the village limits unless the solid waste shall be closed in a suitable and watertight can, vessel, or container which shall be kept and/or enclosed by a tightly fitting cover so as to prevent access to contents thereof by animals and to prevent the contents from being blown out by the weather. Such can, vessel, or container shall be of suitable and convenient size to be handled by the waste collector as determined by such collector and shall be located or stored behind the front building line in a side or rear yard only and shall be concealed from public view from the street. However, on a corner lot the can, vessel, or container shall be located or stored behind the building line in the rear or interior side yard only and shall be concealed from public view from the street.

    (b)

    No can, vessel, or container shall be placed for pickup or collection in the right-of-way of any street, alley, or other public place or on private property within the public view from the street until after 4:00 p.m. of the day preceding the next regularly scheduled collection date, and the can, vessel, or container must be removed and placed behind the building line as described in this section before 10:00 a.m. of the day following collection.
